The WiFi or the Wireless Fidelity Telematics is a still-to-emerge concept that Amrita is keen to take over to the next generation of transportation-be it public road transport or railways.
Amrita has successfully developed a secured wireless based media propagation and communication system for Konkan Sky Bus Metro Project. The application was deployed at the 1.6 km long Sky Bus test track in Madgaon, Goa.
The striking features of the system include Video surveillance, Two way audio communication, Real time location tracking of the Sky Bus on the track, Live Voice Announcement capability, Pre-recorded voice announcements, Pre-recorded video displays and much more.
All these features are controlled centrally at the Sky Bus Control Station. Cutting-edge techniques for voice compression and strong, efficient cryptographic methods are implemented in the system.
Telematics can facilitate effective vehicle traffic, location tracking, video announcements, fleet scheduling, video surveillance and also value added or multimedia features like education through e-learning processes and entertainment.
