Amrita Clinical Support System (ACSS) will help to streamline administrative processes associated with patient communications and improve the quality of patient care. Amrita Clinical Documentation System captures all the medical diagnosis details of a patient (like, Primary diagnosis reports, Service Order reports, Operation Notes from Operation Theatre, Other patient care reports, Discharge summaries etc.) in a structured and advanced way as the patient walks through the various nodes of the workflow of the hospital. The system is capable of capturing all drugs and laboratory test details to be included in the Personal Health Record of a patient.

It helps in the management of Clinical workflow and hence interfacing with other applications in Amrita Hospital Informatics Suite. It is capable of the management of Issuing of all test orders to different departments. It helps in the management of data entry and retrieval of Clinical Components of EMRs. Example: test orders, results, findings, impressions, diagnosis, treatment, etc.

The Image annotation control is an important tool available in this Clinical Documentation System, which will allow the users to upload specific images of the patient like, X- ray images, CT images or Endoscopy images and annotate on those images with required clinical data. The added advantage of these image annotation controls is that the user can incorporate them in data capturing template.

The security policy of ACDS restricts the insertion, modification and deletion of the clinical data from the Clinical Documentation System Archive. The authorized users (Security Domain Administrators) can define a security policy for the end user inserting and accessing the clinical data through the given interface of the Advanced Clinical Documentation System. The system supports service center level, template level and field level security policy to the end user. System can put an organization on the cutting edge of patient care by providing patients with an added online connection if needed.  There is provision to define security policy for authorized access of Internet for sending the clinical information in the Clinical Documentation Archive as E-Mails and also for sending it as Fax. Secure messaging in Amrita CSS is HIPAA compliant and also helps your clinicians document all communications with patients.

The integrity of the archived clinical data is kept to the higher priority through the basic security policies defined in this system.

The Clinical Documentation Archive helps the end user to retrieve the clinical information in different formats as follows:

1. As printable reports : The printable reports of the clinical data of a patient can be taken for any purpose like giving to the patient and/or sending it to other physicians. The printing of such reports can be restricted by define such a security policy.

2. Informative and research oriented reports: The cumulative reports and research oriented reports suffices to access a wide range of the clinical data saved in the data store. The accession of clinical data can be restricted using the security policy. The authorized user can have an advanced searching facility in the clinical database for specific type of reports they would like to have.

3. Graphical representation: The graphical reports can be viewed satisfying a condition of the user, is important for research purposes. The authorized users can take such reports of many kinds like Pie charts, Bar diagrams, Line diagrams etc. for representing the data.

Managerial and Operation Level Reporting capability

Amrita CDS has an integrated report engine that produces daily reports and administrative reports in different formats like PDF, EXCEL and HTML. The Amrita Report Engine is based on multiple Open source java reporting frame works and also supports a web framework for the management of reports. The managerial reports provided by AHIS can help greatly in decision making and future planning.

Data Analysis using OLAP

Amrita OLAP is an integrated Decision Support System that collects data from the transactional database of the Hospital Information System (HIS), and then churns it into meaningful, measurable information needed for strategic planning. Intelligent reports are provided in both tabular and graphical forms suitable for various levels of Management users. Unlike traditional reporting, the Amrita OLAP system supports interactivity and thus Management-users can slice and dice the data and make ad-hoc reports on their own. Different types of charts like Bar, Line and Pie are provided to suit various reports.
